Is NET not relevant anymore?

Indeed, UGC NET is very much relevant, in fact after the release of new regulation the relevance of UGC NTA NET has been sky-rocketed. If you are asking why? Here is the reason. UGC NET is a highly competitive exam conducted twice, every year. As per the existing and latest UGC regulations candidates who are qualified with the National Eligibility Test will be continued to be eligible for Assistant Professor jobs across India. On the other hand, the regulations for PhD qualification is more stringent. UGC has now made NCrF (National Credit Framework), an integral part of the selection.

More than that the PhD qualification is a long route to your favourite career. Only candidates who have completed the UG and PG as per the UGC regulations and pursue and successfully complete PhD. This could cost the candidates almost 6 years to complete the PhD alone. Considering the time of UG and PG as per the prescribed level of quality will increase the time span too.

Here lies the relevance for NET. It is still the shortest route for candidates who wish to join as an Assistant Professor. With a better preparation it will be easier for the candidates to crack the National Eligibility Test and achieve a successful career as an Assistant Professor.
